preserve fairness in the initiative petition process
Purpose:
HB3146, the “Politicians’ Right to Lie Act,” would allow partisan officials to use misleading ballot language and drag out the citizen initiative process — the very process Missourians use to make decisions that impact our families and communities.
Last year, a nearly identical bill (SB22) was struck down unanimously by the Missouri Supreme Court as unconstitutional. Now politicians are trying again.
HB3146 would give the Secretary of State multiple chances to rewrite ballot summaries before a court can step in, creating unnecessary delays and opening the door to unfair, dishonest language that could mislead voters at the ballot box. As members of Missouri Jobs with Justice, we are amplifying their message on HB3146!
Send a postcard to your Missouri State Representative to demand that they protect the power of the people in Missouri’s democracy!
Postcard Template:
Dear Representative [NAME],
My name is [YOUR NAME], and I live in [CITY], MO [ZIP]. I’m asking you to vote NO on HB3146.
Missourians deserve fair, unbiased ballot summaries and a transparent initiative process. For 100+ years, our state has protected the right of citizens to participate directly in our democracy. HB3146 undermines that tradition and opens the door to misleading language and unnecessary delays.
Please stand with voters and protect the integrity of our ballot process.

SAVE Act
Purpose:
The SAVE Act, introduced in Congress in 2025, would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote — despite the fact that it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote.
While it may sound reasonable, the bill would create new barriers for millions of eligible voters. Driver’s licenses (including REAL IDs) and military IDs would not be enough. Many Americans — especially women who have changed their names, seniors, rural voters, tribal citizens, service members, natural disaster survivors, and voters of color — could face significant hurdles simply to register.
The SAVE Act is a dangerous step toward voter suppression that would make it harder, not safer, for eligible Americans to participate in our democracy.
Send a postcard to your senator, urging them to vote NO!
Postcard Template:
Dear Senator [NAME],
My name is [YOUR NAME], and I live in [CITY], MO [ZIP]. I urge you to vote NO on the SAVE Act and protect the voting rights of all eligible U.S. citizens.
Millions of Americans do not have easy access to citizenship documents, and many already face barriers to obtaining ID. The SAVE Act would create unnecessary new obstacles to voting — even though it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote.
We don’t need more barriers to the ballot. Focus on real issues facing our communities: education, housing, healthcare, the environment, and the economy.
Please stand up for voters and oppose the SAVE Act.

ICE and 287 (G) in Missouri
Purpose:
The 287(g) program allows local police to partner with ICE, effectively turning officers into immigration agents. This creates a direct pipeline from routine traffic stops to detention and deportation. In Missouri, 82% of calls to the STL Rapid Response Hotline about people in ICE custody began with a local police arrest — and 90% of those began with racial profiling during traffic stops.
The program diverts local law enforcement from public safety priorities, drains resources, and has led to costly constitutional rights violations — including the wrongful detention of U.S. citizens. Studies show 287(g) harms public safety by making immigrant communities afraid to call police.
Missouri had zero 287(g) agreements in 2024. By January 2026, there were 44 statewide following a gubernatorial executive order.
Urge Governor Kehoe to end 287(g) agreements in Missouri and protect due process and constitutional rights for all.
Postcard Template:
Dear Governor Kehoe,
My name is [YOUR NAME], and I live in [CITY], MO [ZIP]. I urge you to end 287(g) agreements in Missouri and protect the constitutional and civil rights of all Missourians.
These agreements push our neighbors into detention and deportation — even though most people detained by ICE in Missouri have no criminal record.
287(g) diverts local law enforcement from community safety, increases racial disparities, and undermines due process. Our communities are stronger and safer when constitutional rights are upheld for everyone.
Please take action to end 287(g) agreements in our state.
