Welcome New Ashrei Staff

The Ashrei Foundation is excited to welcome Sarah Kaul as our new Interim Hotline Capacity Coordinator, a role created to strengthen and expand the impact of the St. Louis Rapid Response Hotline during a critical time for immigrant communities.

As demand for rapid response support continues to grow, this new position adds dedicated short-term capacity to help sustain and improve hotline operations. Working part-time, Sarah will divide her time between staffing hotline operator shifts and supporting key operational needs behind the scenes. Her work will help increase responsiveness, improve continuity of care for callers, and strengthen the systems that keep the hotline running effectively.

In this role, Sarah will collaborate closely with Ashrei’s Executive Director, Sara Ruiz and Hotline Volunteer Coordinator, Judy McGrath, to support volunteer engagement, follow-up communication with individuals served, administrative reporting, and systems development. She will also contribute to regional advocacy and coalition efforts that connect the hotline to a broader network of community support.

Sarah brings both passion and experience to this position. A St. Louis native and recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, she majored in Global Cultural Studies with minors in Spanish and Applied Linguistics. Since last fall, she has already been serving as a volunteer operator on the Rapid Response Hotline, where she has demonstrated a strong commitment to immigration justice and linguistic accessibility.

Her firsthand experience with the hotline, combined with her bilingual skills and deep care for the community, make her especially well-positioned to step into this role. She understands both the urgency of frontline response work and the importance of building sustainable systems that support volunteers and families alike.

Outside of her professional work, Sarah is a lifelong dancer and recently choreographed and performed Brazilian Funk for Washington University’s Carnaval show this spring. She also enjoys live music, matcha lattes, social dancing, and spending time with her two dogs, Caper and Cheerio.

We are thrilled to officially welcome Sarah to the Ashrei team and look forward to the energy, leadership, and compassion she will bring to this important work.
